This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media. The Interactive Media Peer Group was created in 2000 to acknowledge the changing landscape of television. Specifically, the peer group recognizes that audiences are increasingly engaged in the television viewing experience through interactive features delivered via broadcast, cable, satellite, broadband and mobile networks. The Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media was established in 2002 to recognize emerging television programming formats, innovations by program creators and groundbreaking interactive media experiences that enhance and extend the traditional viewing experience. Recipients of the 2010 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media were NBC.com’s “The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Digital Experience” from producers Jimmy Fallon, Gavin Purcell, Sara Schaefer and Robert Angelo, and “Star Wars: Uncut” from producers Casey Pugh, Annelise Pruitt, Jamie Wilkinson and Chad Pugh. The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media will recognize creative excellence in interactive programs or series that were commercially deployed between June 1st, 2010, and May 31st, 2011. The deadline for submitting an online entry form is April 29th. Entries can be made at: http://www.emmys.tv/awards/63rd-primetime-emmy-awards This year, all work is submitted into a single area of competition and each interactive media entry competes on its own merit against all other interactive media entries. Interactive Media Peer Group members will review the submissions to select the nominations and determine the Primetime Emmy Award winner or winners. There may be one or more than one Emmy statuette awarded to the individual(s) or company(s) directly involved with, and principally responsible for, the recognized Interactive Media Programming. The Interactive Media Peer Group at-large will select the 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominees from all eligible entries. Nominees will be announced on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 5:35am PDT. A Blue Ribbon Panel comprised of members of the Television Academy’s Interactive Media Peer Group will then evaluate the nominees and their vote will determine who will receive the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media. The 63rd Primetime Emmy Award winners will be announced on Saturday, September 10 during the Creative Arts Awards Ceremony. # # # Contact: Chris DiIorio PMK*BNC 310.854.4800
