New or Returning Governor? Returning
Describe your day job: I'm a consultant who runs a firm: StoryTech. StoryTech is an experiential marketing firm that pairs brands, storytellers, and technology companies to create great experiences.
I also run a weekly podcast I've had for years on tech trends, The Tech Cat Show and am a CNN and HLN contributor on tech.
Credits of which you're most proud: Launching the first content/marketing tech lab in the US, the Ipglab.com. It was the first of its kind, way ahead of its time... and helped to drive dialogue and engagement around content and tech... before it was 'cool'... lol.
Making my daughter too!
Why did you want to be a Television Academy governor? I very much enjoy teaching and evangelizing the collision between content, media and tech and helping companies understand the creative and business opportunities.
And I understand the importance of helping to educate and drive networking opportunities so that everyone in the industry understands what's happening in interactive media.
What do you hope to accomplish as a governor?
Generate business opportunities for our peer group members
Drive/lead the industry by recognizing and awarding innovative and creative work.
Serve as a resource for the Academy and industry as a whole in understanding the changing audience behaviors around content and the tech driving it.
Why is the Academy important to the industry? The industry needs a central resource that professionals can turn to for:
education
networking
recognizing excellence
standards to uphold —even just cultural, and to strive towards great work.
We have an opportunity, a platform and more than ever before, a place to give voice to new, up-and-coming talent and demographics that have been underserved.
