Dave Davis is GM, Protege Media at Protege, where Dave leads Protege’s licensing activities with respect to audiovisual media for generative AI. Protege acquired Calliope Networks, where Dave was co-founder and CEO. Prior to Calliope Networks, Dave was an entertainment licensing executive at 20th Century Fox, NBCUniversal, Paramount and MPLC. Dave began his career as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York, and as a corporate lawyer at Gunderson Dettmer in Silicon Valley. Dave holds a BA from Wesleyan University and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. Dave is a member of the California bar.
James Deutch is a media executive who has managed complex entertainment projects and business ventures as an executive and producer at numerous companies including: AppleTV, NBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, Hearst, AOL and Bravo. He has structured, sold, and executed business partnerships with clients including General Motors, Home Depot, Honda, Ethan Allen, H&M, Macy’s, Johnson & Johnson, Suave, Maybelline, Kohl’s, and Hotel Indigo.
His experience gives him a unique insight into the creation of the right business strategy that can be implemented effectively and then leading its execution by managing the processes and personalities that generate successful outcomes and ROI.
Currently (since 2021) he has served as Head of Television for Electromagnetic Productions (EMP) responsible for the company’s slate of projects including non-fiction shows in the music, sports, lifestyle (fashion, food, travel) and general entertainment areas. In this capacity he has created and managed partnerships with a variety of strategic partners and talent including: Wasserman Media, Michael Bublé, Ron Fair (Grammy winning music producer), Roman Coppola, Minnie Driver and John Travolta.
Deutch is a graduate of Georgetown University and a member of the Television Academy, the Producers Guild of America, an Advisory Board Member of the Georgetown Entertainment and Media Alliance and member of the Georgetown Angel Investment Network.
Andrew Folks is an associate in the Data Strategy, Privacy & Security Group at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz. He represents clients complying with privacy, security, artificial intelligence, and advertising laws. Andrew is known for his knowledge of data privacy and AI laws and works to help clients adapt to new legal developments, respond to enforcement inquiries, and negotiate agreements. Previously, Andrew worked at the IAPP and California Privacy Protection Agency. Andrew is admitted to practice in California.
Barbara is a pioneering media and entertainment executive, advisor, and filmmaker with 30 years of experience bridging art and technology in storytelling. Currently working with Disney/Marvel on AI innovations, she previously served as President of Prysm, NEP Virtual Studios, and CTO of Meow Wolf. Her career spans leadership roles at major studios including HBO, Digital Domain, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and DreamWorks Animation, where she developed breakthrough technologies for productions like Game of Thrones, Maleficent, and the Shrek franchise.
Her expertise includes live action, VFX, virtual production, digital humans, immersive, and emerging AI technologies, consistently pushing the boundaries of creative expression in entertainment. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Visual Effects Society and the VES Tech Committee, and served as Chair of the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee from 2018-2024.

As a member of the TV Academy’s AI Task Force and having served as president of the Hollywood Professional Association for nine years, Seth is actively involved in shaping the future of the media and entertainment sector. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Maryland and completed two certifications in Artificial Intelligence at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

A Chicana filmmaker originally from Indiana, Alyssa Katalyna has haunted the streets of Los Angeles since her graduation from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. As a writer/director Alyssa was a Starz Writers Intensive Season 3 Fellow, Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today Fellow, NALIP Emerging Content Creator, multiyear National Hispanic Foundation of the Arts Scholar, and is currently a finalist for the 2025 Sundance Cultural Impact Residency. The films Alyssa has produced have been the recipients of multiple grants and accolades including the Rideback Rise Fellowship, the Epic Unreal Mega Grants, DGA Student Film Awards, and the AmPav at the Cannes Film Festival. She is currently producing the animated short film ChikaBOOM! which is the recipient of the Innovation in Technology Grant from the Entertainment Technology Center.
Ghen Laraya Long is an experienced international technology and entertainment attorney. She specializes in transactional contracts for the creation, production and distribution of all forms of content over traditional and new media platforms. Long has a roster of technotainment clients ranging from producers, directors, writers, musicians, and actors and large multimedia companies to small startups for whom she provides advice, in-house counsel and production attorney services. Prior to recent stints with Disney and Red Bull Media, Long was VP Business and Legal Affairs for Mandalay Digital Group Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Digital Turbine Inc., Assistant General Counsel and Director of Mobile Partnerships for CBS Corporation, International Corporate Counsel for Amp’d Mobile and Business and Legal Affairs Counsel for Tokyopop! Inc. Long is currently a board member of Fil-Am Arts, has served on the board of Women in Film and Echo Training and is a co-founder of Greenlight Women. Long is an active member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and serves on its AI Task Force. She is qualified to practice law in Ontario, Canada and California and is a polyglot.
Christina Lee Storm is an award-winning producer and executive recognized for her pioneering work at the intersection of storytelling and technology spanning television, film, animation, documentaries, virtual reality, augmented reality, and XR.
As Co-Founder of PLAYBOOK PLBK and Founder/CEO of ASHER XR, Christina leads her companies to strategically, creatively, and ethically integrate emerging technologies like real-time, virtual production, and AI into traditional, digital, and multi-platform storytelling. She has been instrumental in implementing creative and strategic production technologies and driving innovation in content creation for studios such as Netflix, Universal, and DreamWorks Animation.
As former Director of Virtual Production UCAN at Netflix, Christina played a pivotal role in establishing global virtual production ecosystems, spaces, and stages collaborating with filmmakers and industry partners to drive growth and adoption. She spearheaded virtual production across Netflix's series, films, unscripted, and ancillary content.
While at DreamWorks Animation, Christina was Vice President of Business Operations, Strategy, & Emerging Technology, where she championed the future of real-time content creation and workflows.
Christina served as Head of Content & Acquisitions at Positron where she played a key role in strategizing, driving, and acquiring premium cinematic VR content for the company's platform.
Christina serves as the Governor of the Television Academy’s Emerging Media Programming peer group, Co-Chair of the Academy’s Advocacy Committee, and an active member of the Television Academy’s AI Task Force. Additionally, she serves on the Producers Guild of America's Production Innovation Task Force, the Los Angeles Mayor’s Entertainment Industry Council and Workforce Development Sub-Committee. Christina is also an advisor for Runway’s 100 Film Fund.
Globally known as a thought leader in the emerging media landscape, Christina is recognized for her leadership and dedication to the industry. She was inducted into AWE’s inaugural XR Hall of Fame, received the Lumiere Distinguished Leadership Award in Technology, and she is a proud Founding Member of DreamWorks Animation's TECHWomen.
Holly Leff-Pressman is Chief Client Engagement Officer for Screen Engine ASI, based in Los Angeles – with offices in San Diego, New York and London. She is at the forefront of leading the company’s client service teams and works with all clients across avenues of the business. She has been integral to expanding the business and solidifying new logos for our family of companies during her 7 years at the company. Fresh from law school in 1989, she was a litigation associate at an entertainment law firm before joining Viewer’s Choice Television in 1992. While with Viewer’s Choice, she initiated, negotiated and oversaw licensing and distribution of original and event pay-per-view and video-on-demand programming. In 1995, she joined NBCUniversal as Senior Vice President for World Wide Pay Per View and Video On Demand. Following a nine-year stint with NBCU, she signed on with The Nielsen Co. as executive VP for content solutions and media research. She has been at the forefront of industry developments in on-demand viewership as well as the measurement of data and research of that viewership. Holly was the recipient of MCN’s 2023 Wonder Woman Award and was honored as a Cable TV Pioneer in 2018.
Craig is a filmmaker by way of Columbia University, NYU, and USC School of Cinematic Arts whose work has received distinction from the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship, College Television Awards, The Blacklist, Sundance, Hillman Grad’s Rising Voices, NAACP Image Awards, and AmPav at the Cannes Film Festival. He is a two-time recipient of the Innovation in Technology Grant from the Entertainment Technology Center for the virtual production film FATHEAD and the animated short ChikaBOOM! c. Craig built stories with Paramount, Amazon, Hulu, Bad Robot, IMDBPro, and Carnegie Hall.
Kylee Peña is Sr. Product Marketing Manager for Professional Editorial at Adobe. As a former editor herself, she’s a seasoned problem-solver who wants to bridge the gap between creative and technology for all kinds of storytellers. Kylee has over 15 years of experience in post-production and hundreds of television and film credits as both a creative and technical professional on shows such as Jane the Virgin, Colony, and Scorpion. At Adobe, she is part of the team engaging with the professional post-production community to drive the future of Premiere Pro.
An industry thought leader, Kylee has been published across various journals and included on panels worldwide. She was named a TVN “Woman to Watch in Technology”, nominated for RISE Influencer Award, and part of the team honored for HPA Engineering Excellence Award for Text-Based Editing and Enhance Speech in Premiere Pro.
Kylee is an active member of the Television Academy’s Science and Technology peer group and Hollywood Region Governor for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. She holds a bachelor's degree in media arts from Indiana University and a master’s degree in integrated design, business, and technology from University of Southern California.
Kylee is also an avid volunteer and community advocate. She was included in the Association of Junior Leagues’ 40 Under 40 List in 2024 and is currently serving Junior League of Los Angeles as Communications Vice President.
Robyn Polashuk is co-chair of the firm's Entertainment and Media Industry Group. She focuses her practice on the licensing and distribution of television networks and programming content across a variety of platforms, including cable and satellite, IPTV, mobile, and Internet streaming. These transactions span the business models available to consumers, such as subscription linear pay television, ad-supported, subscription and transactional video-on-demand, electronic sell-through and interactive applications. As part of this work she also negotiates retransmission consent agreements on behalf of broadcast stations. Robyn has extensive experience in digital distribution in the areas of “over the top” (OTT), TV Everywhere (TVE), and direct-to-consumer (DTC) structures. She handles a variety of agreements in this space, including traditional network and program distribution, premium subscription content licenses, app placement, revenue sharing, dynamic ad insertion arrangements, and content licensing for training of AI models. Robyn’s practice also extends to due diligence and contractual analysis in connection with media-related corporate transactions, most favored nations review and interpretation, and guidance for distribution-related disputes and litigation. Robyn works closely with Covington’s tech transactions, litigation, corporate and regulatory attorneys to provide multi-faceted support for programming clients’ licensing and distribution businesses. Robyn represents leading media groups, film and television studios, sports leagues and emerging networks, in general entertainment, national and regional sports and specialized programming genres, as well as both major and emerging technology, and Internet companies. These include AMC Networks, Fox Corporation, NFL Network, Paramount Global, TelevisaUnivision, The Walt Disney Company and TV One. She has negotiated on behalf of content owners with all the traditional television distributors, such as DIRECTV, Charter/Spectrum, Comcast, DISH Network and Verizon, as well as streaming distributors and platforms, such as DIRECTV Stream, FuboTV, Roku, Sling TV, Twitter, YouTube TV and Xumo. and sits on the Copyright Society’s AI sub-committee.
Eric W. Shamlin is CEO of Secret Level, the most accomplished and prolific AI-native entertainment studio. With a career spanning three decades across Hollywood, Silicon Valley and Madison Avenue, Eric has delivered iconic work at Apple, Omnicom, Entertainment One, and Monks. He is a multiple Emmy, Peabody and Cannes Lion winner.
Additionally, Eric is an active member of the creative community and currently sits on the Board of Governors for the Emmys, where he Chairs their AI Task Force, in addition to being the Innovation Chair for the Producers Guild of America and holds multiple advisory positions for the SXSW film festival.
Julie Shapiro is an Associate Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Entertainment & Media Law Institute at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles She graduated from Loyola Law School in 1989 and has since built a distinguished career in entertainment law. Shapiro's extensive experience includes working with scripted and unscripted programming, new media platforms, domestic and international transactions, licensing, intellectual property, and all aspects of production. She began her legal career at The William Morris Agency and has held significant roles such as leading the business and legal affairs department at New Line Television, launching business/legal affairs for OWN: Oprah Winfrey’s Network, and serving as head of business affairs/general counsel at APA talent agency.
Ben Sheffner is Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Law & Policy, at the Motion Picture Association, where he specializes in copyright, First Amendment, and other legal and policy issues of importance to the MPA’s member studios. With dual appointments in the MPA’s Legal and Government Affairs departments, Ben works closely with attorneys and policy advocates internally and at the MPA’s member studios to formulate and implement strategies to create a favorable environment for the industry to thrive, both economically and creatively. Among his several roles, Ben frequently represents MPA before federal and state government officials and entities; manages the MPA’s amicus brief program; and serves as counsel to the Title Registration Bureau.
Prior to joining the MPA in 2011, Ben held in-house legal positions at NBCUniversal and Twentieth Century Fox and worked as an associate in the Century City office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he litigated copyright and other cases for major movie studios, television networks, and record labels. In 2008, Ben served as Special Counsel on Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign, where, among other responsibilities, he handled the campaign’s copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property issues. Ben served as a law clerk for the Hon. M. Margaret McKeown on the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2000-2001.
Ben serves as an Adviser to the American Law Institute’s Restatement of the Law, Copyright project and has previously held positions as a Trustee of the Copyright Society of the USA as well as the Los Angeles Copyright Society, and as a participant on the Uniform Law Commission committee that drafted a uniform anti-SLAPP statute.
Prior to attending law school, Ben worked as a political reporter in Washington, DC for the Cook Political Report and Roll Call newspaper, where he covered congressional elections, the term limits movement, campaign finance reform, and various other issues related to Congress’ internal politics and administration. Ben received an A.B. from Harvard College and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall).

Ed is also the former CEO of James Cameron’s Digital Domain, former global President of Method Studios, award winning producer, and pioneer in virtual human performances and advanced visual effects. He has over twenty-five+ years in the visual effects (VFX) and film, TV, and advertising production industries and has led global teams of up to 2,000 employees spanning four countries and managed P&L operations with nine-figure budgets.
Ed has executive produced visual effects for some of the biggest blockbuster movies in history including Top Gun: Maverick, Aquaman, Avengers: Infinity Wars, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, Suicide Squad, and many more; and executive produced the Academy Award©-winning visual effects for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, What Dreams May Come, and Titanic.
Ed produced the epic sci-fi film Ender’s Game (Lionsgate - 2013) starring Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Viola Davis and spearheaded the groundbreaking Tupac Shakur "Hologram" with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. He has created visual effects in music videos for The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and many more; and over 500 commercials.
Erik Weaver is an Emmy-nominated producer and the head of Virtual & Adaptive Production at the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) at the University of Southern California. Known for his innovative work in immersive media, he has executive-produced projects like Ripple Effect, Fathead, and Europa, pushing the boundaries of ICVFX. His current work includes ChickaBOOM, an AI-powered animation project designed to empower creatives. Erik is also the founder of the ETC R&D Innovation Grant and is a graduate of both the 3rd Unreal Fellowship and 3rd ICVFX Fellowship.
